Did you know this about Mata Redonda district San José canton of Costa Rica?
First of all, I want to start including some facts about Mata Redonda district and San José canton. This district was created in December 1948. Mata Redonda was declared an “international zone” for the construction of the International Airport in 1948. The postal code of this zone is 10108.
In 1962 Mata Redonda was the least populated district and it was full of coffe farms, but Manuel Antonio Chapuí donated those lands for people to live there. Nevertheless that didn’t work because according to Cleto Gonzáles Víquez the administration of those lands was really messy at the moment.
Did you know that there was another National Stadium? Yes! There was another stadium that stadium was inaugurated in 1924 but it was demolished and replaced for a new stadium (the actual stadium). The actual Costa Rican stadium, was donated by Chinese Popular Republic. The construction started in 2008 and it was inaugurated in 2011.
The current ruling party of the canton is “Partido Liberación Nacional” and Elba Dellanoce Morales is the person that is ruling. There are in total 12 public services provided, there are 2 of community center, 4 of palace of justice, 1 of library, 2 of police station and 3 of post office. The poblation of Mata Redonda according to “El censo 2011” 1860 people of a population of 8313 people in this district were born in another country. Most of the reported people were born in Nicaragua, the second place was Colombia and the third was United Stated.

Mata Redonda have many public activities just by the National Stadium, in this stadium there are many events. An example of that activities are the football games or the stadium, many people come here just to look at this events. Another activity that Mata Redonda has is that in Christmas they put an Christmas tree in front of the Metropolitan park and people really like to come just for look at the tree. I want to recognize that this district is recognized for having many famous Costa Rican structures. One of them is Teletica, Teletica is a tv program open to all the Costa Rican people.
